“AIDA” Marketing Principle
AIDA is an acronym used in marketing that describes a common list of events that are very often undergone when a person is selling a product or service:
Attention (or Awareness)
- Web traffic is your plan to have it earned (organic/free links) or paid for (banner ads/Pay Per Click) or a combination?
- Attract the attention of the customer to the right message or web page. (Don’t distract them or cause them to leave prematurely if your sight is hard on the eyes, i.e. too much motion or bright colors)
Interest
- Do you have services or products that seem relevant to the traffic you get?
- Raise customer interest by demonstrating features, advantages, and benefits.
- WII FM – remember most people don’t care about awards or product specifications they want reasons why it will help them.
Desire
- Do you clearly communicate the benefits of how/why these visitors would benefit from your services/products?
- Convince customers that they want and desire the product or service and that it will satisfy their needs.
- Either offer something they want OR
- Help them avoid pain or use fear of loss
Action
- Do you make it easy and provide incentives and fear of loss factors in why these visitors should do business with you right away?
- Lead customers towards taking action and/or purchasing.
- Make it easy to do business with you. (Contact Info on Every Page! Plus easy to use website and shopping cart.)
Nowadays some have added another letter to form AIDAS:
Satisfaction
- Do you provide good customer service and good quality of product/services to satisfy the customer so they become a repeat customer and give referrals?
